An ultra-modern and traditional company
Comazo represents over 125 years of quality underwear from the Swabian Alb in southern Germany. In excess of 10 million garments are sold annually in Europe. Only a few people know the true origins of this German company.
In 1884, the merchant and farmer Conrad Maier began knitting fabric in his living room. As was customary in those times, the address of a company was often in relation to its proximity to the nearest Inn. And so the name chosen for the then newly founded company was “Conrad Maier zum Ochsen” i.e. Conrad Maier by the Oxen Inn - abbreviated to Comazo.
To date Comazo is run as a family business with its headquarters in Albstadt. Dr Christoph Maier and Michael Nädele are the incumbent Chief Executive Officers. As one of the last German textile companies from the Swabian region, Comazo still manufactures its own underwear with operations in Germany, Romania, Croatia and Russia and has about 470 employees. Comazo controls its entire manufacturing value chain. Production is in-house and includes knitting, dyeing, cutting, sewing, packing and shipping. In Albstadt, fabrics are bleached, dyed, finished and cut using modern and environmentally progressive processes.
Whether for everyday wear, sports, leisure or work, an innovative team designs fashionable and comfortable underwear – putting to optimal use the full range of fabrics and cuts. Our customers include virtually all major European retailers. Furthermore, Comazo sells its own products directly to consumers via its 31 own outlets in Southern Germany – this enables Comazo to stay ahead of the game by remaining as close as possible to consumers.
