Projects

At Comazo, we focus on authenticity - and that starts with our own employees. Instead of professional models, we put those who know and love our underwear best in front of the camera: our employees. This decision is part of our philosophy, because we believe that everyone can and should find their favorite underwear with us. We live our enthusiasm for our products, and that's exactly what we want to show in our photo shoots.

Another advantage of this decision is that we can save the budget that would normally be spent on professional models. We invest this saved model budget in social projects that are close to our hearts. In this way, we not only contribute to positive interaction within our company, but also support projects that make a difference in the world.

It is important to us to do good both internationally and in the region. This is why we sometimes support projects such as the Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e. V., which supports families in difficult times. With this commitment, we want to make a small contribution to improving the everyday lives of children and families in our home region and show that they are not alone.

South Africa is also particularly close to our hearts, which is why a very large proportion of our donations now go to the Kliptown Youth Program (KYP) in Soweto near Johannesburg. Since we met the founders in 2008, we have enjoyed a genuine partnership. KYP's focus on children and education for the next generation fits perfectly with our understanding of sustainability and community. We visit the organization on site several times a year and see directly how our donations are working. Comazo and KYP are a perfect match.

About KYP

Kliptown is one of the poorest areas in Soweto, South Africa. Around 45,000 people live there in “shacks” - tin huts with no water or official electricity supply and no sanitary facilities. Unemployment is around 75% and life revolves mainly around daily survival.

These living conditions particularly affect the children of Kliptown - and this is precisely where the “Kliptown Youth Program” (KYP) comes in. KYP (www.kliptownyouthprogram.org.za) was founded in 2007 by Thulani Madondo and other young people from Kliptown. After leaving school or dropping out of school, they themselves experienced immediate hopelessness and decided to dedicate their lives to the previously disadvantaged future generations of Kliptown.

The Kliptown Youth Program has therefore set itself the goal of establishing a culture of education in order to open up opportunities for children in modern South Africa and the global world. The aid program follows the guiding principle of “helping children to help themselves”. Children should free themselves from poverty and change their community and society as a result.

“For me, Thulani is without doubt one of the most impressive people I have had the pleasure of meeting in my life.”

Dr. Christoph Maier, Managing Director of Comazo

We have been supporting the KYP organization with our heart and soul since 2012. The very close and respectful collaboration between Comazo and KYP started back in 2008. “At that time, KYP only had 25 members and practically no resources - we were impressed by the team's humanity and honesty. Their vision of 'oppertunity through education' simply won us over. Through regular contact and visits on site, we also created transparency - so we know what funds are needed and used for at KYP,” explains Dr. Christoph Maier. The aid organization has grown steadily since then and now has well over 500 members with a waiting list. For years, the 'matric pass rate' (the proportion of members who pass their A-levels) has been close to 100 percent. “A brilliant figure considering the social circumstances and background of the students,” informs Dr. Christoph Maier and continues proudly: ”Many members have received scholarships and are studying at various universities, while others now have a permanent job. But almost all of them come back and donate part of their income themselves or teach the pupils”. A positive development that makes us shine.
